Our autumn and winter programme, 2022/2023

On the theme of: B&W photography - 21st October to 4th November (coinciding with Blue house Yard art event on 13th November) - submissions open NOW

Calling photographers - we want to see your best, most vibrant, impactful and striking black and white works. This is an open exhibition - open to any black and white photography; portrait, architecture, street photography, still-life etc.

Fees: there is no fee to make a submission, and successful submissions will be subject to a participation fee of £70, which includes:

  • Printing of submissions (high quality, A4 matte photographic paper) for display within the exhibition

  • Framing of printed submissions (high quality, wooden A3 frames for A4 works)

    • Unsold framed works will be available to applicants when the exhibition closes, and this is covered by your participation fee​

  • Marketing and promotion

  • Exhibition installation and dismantling

All participating photographers will be required to supply prints of their work OR we can provide fine-art / photographic print services. £8 for A4 prints and £12 for A3 - for high-res digital submissions.

Deadline for submissions: 17rd October, 2022 - please note: we will be reviewing and accepting submissions on a rolling basis, so don't delay in submitting your works (no fee for submission).

 

On the theme of: Alexandra Palace - TBC (likely December)

One of London's iconic landmarks sits proudly here in Haringey, with amazing views over London. Alexandra Palace has a rich history and significance to many, and we'd like to celebrate this by theming an exhibition around this historic building. An open exhibition - photography and artwork in different media are invited, as long as you can articulate a link to Ally Pally.

On the theme of: Childhood - TBC (likely November/December)

An open exhibition inviting artists and photographers to submit works linked to the theme of childhood. This could related to your own childhood, that of your children - we are open to submissions in a variety of media.

Submission information and guidance is listed below - please follow our guidance - your submission may not be considered if you do not provide the information required, or other than in the way it is requested.

  • It is free to submit artwork for consideration

  • Submit a separate form for each exhibition, if you are interested in applying for more than one

  • Submissions can be new or existing works, but you must articulate how your work relates to the exhibition theme

  • Selected artists will be charged a fee of £30 per work/per week for the duration of each exhibition (irrespective of size), and 10% commission is charged on all sales during the exhibition

  • Fees are payable upon confirmation from Citizens Art London that a submission has been successful, and receipt of an invoice 

  • There is a limit of two works per selected artist, but artists can submit up to five works for consideration

  • Two dimensional works must not exceed 100cm in height or width, including frame

  • Two dimensional works must be original works (not prints) excluding photography submissions and photographic exhibitions

  • All successful artists are asked to supply us with prints of their work, which will be available for sale during the period of the exhibition. Let us know if this is an issue

  • Artists should supply no more than 10 prints per work, but artists can re-supply the gallery during the exhibition following sales

  • Prints supplied by successful artists should be "sale ready" and supplied flat for display in our print racks

  • Artists should supply gallery labels providing information about their work, including (as a minimum: size (with frame), medium, other materials used and price. Additional contextual information about work is welcome (and in fact, invited), and we would ask artists to write for an audience of art lovers but catering for those that may not have visited a gallery before. We find this article to be helpful in approaching this

  • Three dimensional works must not exceed 100cm in width. There is no height restriction (within reason - we have over 3m eaves height in the gallery), but if the dimensions and form of the work mean that there is more than a very low risk of it being toppled, we will require artists to advise how they propose to secure it

  • Submitted works must be available to purchase

  • Two dimensional works must be hang-ready, meaning they should be securely framed with string securely attached to the reverse of the work. If you need assistance with hanging, we recommend the Blue House Framer, located opposite the gallery

  • Delivery of works: artists will be advised by email of the arrangements for delivery of artwork to the gallery - this will usually be 2/3 days prior to the launch of an exhibition

  • Gallery opening hours during curated exhibitions are:

    • Monday:        closed

    • Tuesday:        closed

    • Wednesday:   1pm to 7pm

    • Thursday:      2pm to 8pm

    • Friday:            1pm to 7pm

    • Saturday:       11am to 5pm

    • Sunday:          12pm to 4pm
